How I got here
page 3

So off I went on the C12 bus to Swiss Cottage.
At that time Shifu Wen was holding classes in the basement of his Herb shop in North London, Shifu is also a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
I found New College Parade, and there, above the door, was a sign saying “San Ling Chinese Medicine Centre” ,
"This is it" I thought.
Deep breath and in I went.
That was my first meeting with Shifu Wen, I shook his hand, explained I had spoken to someone on the phone about coming to classes, but I didn’t understand what they had told me,
“Yes, that was me” he said with a big smile!
I went down the spiral stairs to the training hall.
The class was about to start.
“Shall I take part or just watch?” my question was answered by my future boxing brother Jiefu, “Take your shoes off and join in” he replied. We went through the warm-ups and stretches, Ba Duan Jin & Wuhu Quan. It was everything I’d hoped for.
Shifu Wen was a very accomplished master having trained with some of the most famous masters in Chinese wushu (including Shifu Peng Qin; his Grandfather, Shifu Sha Guozheng, Shifu He Fusheng). The students were all very courteous and made me feel very welcome; although a lot of people have come and gone a few people from these early days are now some of my closest friends.
