“I have been teaching since 2000 and, after younger students attending my adult sessions asked for more classes, have decided to start this children's gongfu (kungfu) programme.

In developing this curriculum I wanted to move away from the more formal teaching practices while at the same time keeping some of the traditional characteristics that appeal to me. Shifu Wen would sometimes play games that he used to develop certain skills. I think for young students it's important they enjoy their training and by using these methods encourage fun and interaction.

As a Father I also understand the needs of the parents of young people today, and hope that my classes encourage students to take a respectful and more disciplined approach to life at all levels, whether at home or in school.”

Wuxingwushu are currently developing work, in conjunction with Safetynet, with children who experience bullying in school. We aim to increase self-confidence, teach simple 'break away' techniques and help the children to develop strategies to cope with confrontation.
